On May 19, 2014, FERC announced it will hold a joint meeting with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (“NRC”) on May 28, 2014 to discuss important grid issues affecting both agencies.  Commissioners from both FERC and NRC will attend the meeting, along with their respective staffs.

The public meeting will take place at NRC headquarters in Rockville, Maryland.  Topics of discussion will include grid reliability, nuclear power plant license renewals, and dam safety.  The meeting will include presentations by FERC and NRC staff, along with participation from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation staff.   According to the FERC announcement, this meeting will mark the seventh time the agencies have met to discuss “issues of mutual concern to their respective agencies and underscores the commitment of these two agencies to the safe and reliable operation of the bulk power system.”
